Transgender Bill needs more improvement, say Opposition Members in RS

New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) Continuing the debate on the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill 2019 on Thursday, many Opposition members suggested the Government to send it to the Select Committee as this Bill has ample room for improvement.
Initiating the debate on the second day in the Upper House,the BJP Member Suresh Prabhu while supporting the Bill, said the definition of the transgender was defined but to prevent verbal abuse, there should be a provision of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Act. He also suggested that there should be a timeline for disposal of application for issuing certificates for then by the District Magistrate (DM).
Mr Prabhu further said the number of transgender community in the National Council should be increased from five.
