Train Services Disrupted Due to Rain In Odisha

Visakhapatnam, Jul 17 (UNI) Torrential rains in Rayagada district of Odisha and flood water flowing above the danger levels has affected the train services with several trains either cancelled, rescheduled or short-terminated.
Train No. 12755 Sambalpur-Nanded Express leaving Sambalpur on 17.07.2017cancelled, Train No. 12756 Nanded-Sambalpur Express leaving Nanded on 18.07.2017cancelled. Train No. 18518 Visakhapatnam-Korba express leaving Visakhapatnam on17.07.2017 is cancelled 4. Train No. 18517 Korba-Visakhapatnam express leaving Korba on 17.07.2017 is cancelled
The train No. 17482 Tirupati-Bilaspur Express leaving Tirupati on 16.07.2017 will run in diverted route via Vizianagaram-Bhubaneswar-Angul-Sambalpur Road-IB instead of Vizianagaram-Rayagada-Titlagarh & Raipur.
The train No 18112 Yesvantpur-Tata express which left Yesvantpur on 16.07.2017 will run in diverted route via Vizianagaram, Khurda Road, Bhadrak, Tata instead of Vizianagaram-Rayagada-Titlagarh & Sambalpur
The train No, 22837 Hatia-Ernakulam express leaving Hatia on 17.07.2017 will run in diverted route via Jharsuguda, Bilaspur, Nagpur and Ballharsha instead of Jharsuguda, Titlagarh, Vizianagaram
12844 Ahmedabad-Puri express which left Ahmedabad on 16.07.2017 will run in diverted route via Titlagarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Bhubaneswar, Khurda road instead of Titlagarh, Rayagada, Vizianagaram.
The train No. 13352 Alappuzha – Dhanbad (Bokaro) Express passing Visakhapatnam on 17.07.2017 is diverted to run via Vizianagaram, Khurda Road, Angul, Sambalpur,Jharsuguda
The train No.18437 Bhubaneswar-Junagarh Road Express left Bhubaneswar on 16.07.2017 short terminated at Rayagada, Train No. 18438 Junagarh Road-Bhubaneswar on 17.07.2017 will originate from Rayagada instead of Junagarh Road.
Therefore, the services of 18437/18438 Bhubaneswar-Junagarh Road-Bhubaneswar Express will not run between Rayagada & Junagarh Road in both the directions
The train No. 1803 Visakhapatnam-Hazrat Nizamudding Swarna Jayanti express is rescheduled to leave at 18.30hrs instead of its regular schedule 08.20hrs on today
The train No. 08573 Visakhapatnam-Tirupati special express is rescheduled to leave at 22.55hrs instead of its regular schedule at 04.00hrs on tomorrow.
The train No.18437 Bhubaneswar-Junagarh Road Express left Bhubaneswar on17.07.2017 short terminated at Rayagada.. Train No. 18438 Junagarh Road-Bhubaneswar on 18.07.2017 will originate from Rayagada instead of Junagarh Road.
Hence the services of 18437/18438 Bhubaneswar-Junagarh Road-Bhubaneswar Express will not run between Rayagada & Junagarh Road in both the directions. The train No. 13351 Dhanbad- Alappuzha (Bokaro) Express leaving Dhanbad on17.07.2017 passing Visakhapatnam on 18.07.2017 is diverted to run via Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, , Angul, Khurda Road, Vizianagaram.

All senior officials of East Coat Railway (ECR) have been camping at the site of the Bridge that got damaged due to unprecedented floods.
General Manager Umesh Singh, accompanied by Principal Chief Engineer of East Coast Railway, personally inspected the site early this morning.
Water level has receded in the afternoon compared to the position of last night.
Today, professional Railway Teams from Visakhapatnam, including Divers, went to the spot of the two Bridges and checked the Down Line Railway Bridge and its fitness. It was seen that in one of the Piers (Pillars) of the Bridge, there is erosion of sand/mud (technical term-SCOURING) which has led to erosion of the sand bed. In spite of incremental weather, the Railway Engineers at the site have been trying their best to unload sufficient quantity of sand bags, boulders and ballast. These are being put at the base/bottom of the Piers for strengthening as the sand bed has eroded due to the floods.
General Manager Shri Umesh Singh is personally camping at the site with Divisional Railway Manager/Sambalpur and Principal Heads of the Departments. It is expected that the restoration efforts, presently in progress on war footing in spite of bad weather, will be as fruit and the train operations on the DOWN LINE Bridge will resume at the earliest by tomorrow, if weather conditions do not worsen.
Principal Chief Engineer and Chief Bridge Engineer of East Coast Railway are guiding the restoration work of the Bridge. Bridges are critical assets and have a lot of bearing on Safety of Trains and passengers. As the present floods are unprecedented and with forecast of heavy rainfall in the coming days,
ECR will not take any chances and will not compromise on safety aspects, even if restoration work get slightly delayed.
The Bridge is expected to be made ready for traffic by tomorrow and all trains between Theruvali and Singapur Road will pass on this single DOWN LINE Bridge. Hence, extra caution and safety measures are being adopted.
