Traffic PSI trapped by ACB in Thane

Thane, Oct 12 (UNI) A police sub-inspector attached to the DCP
Traffic office in the city was on Friday arrested by the Thane unit
of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of
Rs 5,000 from a complainant here.
PSI Atmaram Patil (54) had demanded Rs 8,000 as bribe to issue a no
objection certificate (NOC) from the DCP Traffic office for the ODC
(over dimensional cargo) vehicle of the complainant's transport
company.
After due negotiation, it was decided that an amount of Rs 5,000
would be paid for the purpose, a release issued by ACB stated here.
Aggrieved complainant today lodged a complaint with the Thane unit
office of ACB, whose officials laid a trap and arrested the police
officer while accepting the bribe money from the complainant.
An offence under sections 7, 13(1),(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention
of Corruption Act has been registered at the local police station
against the arrested officer, the note added.
