Bengaluru, Aug 17 (UNI) Stating that there is an urgent need to employ new tools and technology to speed up clearing the pending cases in various courts across the country, former Chief Justice of India Justice M N Venkatachalaiah opined that country is suffering a huge economic loss due to increasing pendency of cases.
Speaking after inaugurating a one-day Legal leadership conclave on “Challenges and Reforms in Indian Arbitration and Mediation System, way Forward” organized by the India Legal Research Foundation, here on Saturday,he said that “there was a loss of over Rs two lakh crore per year as legal cases are drag on for many years”.
“With increase in the number of litigants and cases it was high time the country accepted and adopted arbitration as a formal legal route”, he added.
