Thane dist on top in PMAY

Thane, Aug 31 (UNI) Thane district has won the first place in the state in Pradhan Mantri

Awas Yojana (PMAY).



PMAY is an initiative by the Government of India in which affordable housing is provided to

the urban poor.



Affordable housing would be provided to the urban poor with a target of building 20 million

affordable houses by March 31, 2022.



CEO Vivek Bhimanvar said in the district the talukas which have performed tremendous development

in this project are Kalyan, Bhiwandi and Shahapur.



The Thane zilla parishad has provided maximum number of houses to poor people under this scheme

in the entire state.



The Zilla Parishad will be honoured at a function to be held on September 1 at CIDCO bhavan,

CBD belapur, he added.
