Ten-time Everester Ang Rita Sherpa passes away

Kathmandu, Sep 21 (UNI) Ang Rita Sherpa, a mountaineer who climbed Mt Everest 10 times without oxygen, passed away on Monday morning due to brain and liver ailment, local media reported. He was 72.
Ang Rita, popularly known as "Snow Leopard", had first scaled the world's tallest peak in 1983. The Guinness World Records has recognised him as the only person on the planet to have climbed Everest 10 times without supplemental oxygen. In 1987 too, he registered a world record of scaling the peak in winters and that too without an oxygen bottle.
Sherpa made his last stint to the top of world for 10th time in 1996. .
