Telangana Govt invites investments in Aerospace & Defence sectors at Defence Companies roundtable meeting at Delhi

Hyderabad, Nov 28 (UNI) The robust Aerospace and Defence ecosystem in Telangana and abundant resources available to do the business from here, were showcased by the Telangana Minister for Industries K.T.Rama Rao (KTR) at the Defence companies roundtable meeting organized by the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at New Delhi on Monday.
Virtually participating in an interactive session during the meeting, Mr KTR said Hyderabad which is known as the missile hub of India, has also been a leading manufacturing and research hub for the Defence industry.
He showcased the investment opportunities in the sector which includes Aero Structures, Aero Engines, Space sector, Drones and UAVS, and Materials.
Assuring complete support to the industry leaders, who plan to establish manufacturing, engineering, testing and technology hubs in Hyderabad, the Minister said that the State government has identified Aerospace and Defence as major thrust sector under the State Industrial policy.
Mr KTR said that Hyderabad has emerged as the most preferred manufacturing destination for Global A&D Original Equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
He said that there is probably no other ecosystem in the world like Hyderabad where major OEMs from US, UK, France, Israel and other nations have established their respective production and export facilities, a true demonstration of Make in India in Defence.
In the last few years, US Aerospace and Defence majors Lockheed Martin, Boeing and GE have established multiple production lines jointly with TATAs in Hyderabad.
French Aerospace major SAFRAN has four projects in Hyderabad including their largest Engine MRO being built in Hyderabad
Dedicated Aerospace and Defence Parks near the international airport, uninterrupted power and water supply, and availability of other crucial resources needed for the sector are available in the State, he said .
Besides a dozen Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) labs, the city also hosts an Ordnance Factory, Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), BEL, HAL and other DPSUs, the Minister said the ecosystem is complemented by over 1000 MSMEs which are engaged in the precision engineering industry catering to the Aerospace and Defence (A&D) sector.
Speaking about global recognition for the A&D sector in Telangana, Mr KTR said that the ecosystem based in Hyderabad is ranked number one globally in Cost effectiveness by Financial Time’s FDI Future Aerospace Cities Rankings 2020-21.
Besides, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has awarded Telangana the Best State Awards in 2022, 2020 and 2018, for the State with the most progressive outlook towards the Aerospace Sector.
Telangana Principal Secretary (IT & Industries) Jayesh Ranjan, Dr E Vishnu Vardhan Reddy( Special Secretary, Investment Promotion and External Engagement), Praveen PA ( Director, Aerospace and Defence wing), Satish K Kaura( Founder Member, SIDM) and Sunil Mishra ( Director General, SIDM), were present at the interactive session.
