Taliban declare formation of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

Kabul, Aug 19 (UNI) The Taliban on Thursday declared the formation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the country’s independence.
The announcement was made by the Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Muhaid on his Twitter account.
"Declaration of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the country's independence from British rule," he posted.
The Taliban took over the country on Sunday, leading to president Ashraf Ghani fleeing Kabul.
The fundamentalist group have said they would announce the structure of the new government soon, and that it would be run according to the Sharia laws.
