Panaji, Dec 7 (UNI) Union Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu on Friday flagged off PMO's MSME support and outreach campaign here.

Speaking after flagging off the campaign, he said government was keen on developing the ecosystem to promote food processing sector.

Prime Minister's vision of doubling the farmer’s income would also come true by strengthening the ecosystem in food processing, he said, adding government had devised several schemes to facilitate and promote those sectors exports which included in freeing the exports of organic and processed foods.

He said there was requirement of new investment to facilitate value addition and building up logistics which was much needed to boost the food processing industry.

There was low awareness about these initiatives amongst the targeted beneficiaries and hence there was a need to develop a better communication strategy to spread these schemes, he said, adding the stakeholders had given thumbs up for the minister's announcement and promised to work towards achieving the export targets.
