Mumbai, Dec 4 (UNI) Shiv Sena MP and party spokesman on Sanjay Raut on Saturday asserted that it is the need of hour to strengthen the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) to fight against ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the country.
Speaking to media persons here this morning Mr Raut stated that whatever West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee had said 'is true' that where is UPA, but without the Congress we can not fight against the BJP.
He emphasised on the need to strengthen the UPA in the country to fight against the BJP at all levels.
He said there would be a front, the only front but that front cannot be complete without the Congress party. He
further explained, that in past several fronts like the Third Front, Fourth Front were made, but that ended up benefitting the BJP more than making a dent in its votes. Therefore this time only one front would be
constituted before the general election 2024, but that would be a front which will include the Congress.
The Executive editor of 'Saamna' went on to say that Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray has already advocated that there is need to strengthen the UPA, if there is no UPA then there no no existence of NDA, because several parties have already opted out of the NDA including the Shiv Sena, Shiromani Akali Dal, etc.
When he was asked about the leadership of that front he declined to says anything on it, but said that this would be discussed with Ms Banerjee and added that he had conveyed to her the inclusion of the Congress in the front.
Though there was some problem between the TMC and the Congress, but we will keep aside the past issues and discuss about the future, he said.
