Steyn to miss remaining IPL due to shoulder injury

Bengaluru, Apr 25 (UNI) Royal Challenge Bangalore speedster Dale Steyn will miss the remaining Indian Premier League due to a shoulder injury while playing against Chennai Super Kings, the franchise informed on Thursday.

Steyn was called in the team replacing Nathan Coulter-Nile last week and scalped two wickets each against CSK and KKR.

He was fit for two matches, but did not take part in Wednesday's match against Kings XI Punjab at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

"Dale felt discomfort after playing his second match against the Chennai Super Kings," said team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee.

"Dale Steyn has been prescribed with ample rest due to inflammation in his shoulder. On account of state of his health, Dale will not be available to take part further in the ongoing season of IPL," Sanjeev Churiwala, chairman of Royal Challengers Bangalore, said in a statement.

Steyn is also part of the South Africa's 15-man squad for the World Cup, however there is still doubt over his recovery.
