Steel slag will be a boon to build durable roads in strategic locations: NITI Aayog member

Itanagar, March 27 (UNI) NITI Aayog Member Dr VK Saraswat said the ‘CSIR-CRRI steel slag road technology’ will be a boon to Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to build long-lasting heavy-duty roads, which can withstand heavy rains and adverse climatic conditions, in strategic areas in border states like Arunachal Pradesh.
Dr Saraswat said this on the sidelines of an inspection of the 1-km stretch of steel slag road built by BRO on a pilot basis at Joram-Koloriang road in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.
He was accompanied by a team of officials from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) - Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), BRO and Tata Steel, and Lower Subansiri DC Bamin Nime, official sources said.
