Steel bridge collapse in Meghalaya

Shillong, April 16 (UNI) A 60-metre iron-steel bridge in Meghalaya collapsed under the impact of two overloaded trucks on Tuesday, snapping road communications. No one was injured, an official said.
The bridge located at Bagla, about 6 km from Dalu on the NH 217 road, connects West Garo Hills district with South Garo Hills district via Karonggre-Dimapara by bypassing Barengapara and Dalu towns.
The bridge collapsed after two 18-wheeled trucks fully loaded with sugar passed over the bridge, leaving bags of sugar strewn all over and into the Bagla River.
