State Human Rights Commission summons Pimpri-Chinchwad police chief in activist Bhapkar case

Pune, Sep 15 (UNI) The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission has summoned Pimpri- Chinchwad police commissioner R K Padmanabhan, asking him to be present in its office on Monday, in connection with a case of detention and alleged human rights violation of social activist and former corporator Maruti Bhapkar.
Bhapkar was detained by the Pimpri-Chinchwad police on November 3, 2018, when he had announced a peaceful protest against the “false promises” made by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
He was detained as a preventive measure by the police ahead of the Chief Minister's scheduled speech at the Madanlal Dhingra Stadium in Chinchwad.
