Chandigarh, Sept 19 (UNI) Pair of India's Divij Sharan and Slovakia's Ignor Zelenay won their first round doubles match by beating Marcelo Demoliner of Brazil and Matwe Middelkoop of Netherlands by 3-6, 6-2, 10-5 in the 1,180,000 ATP 250 St Petersburg Open Tennis Tournament in Russia on Wednesday.
The Indo-Slovak pair played better in the champion’s tie-break. Now, they will take on Roberto Carballes Baena and Andres Molteni in the next round.
Matwe Middelkoop and Roman Jebavy had won the title in 2017 and were runner-up last year. Sharan and Zelenay saved four out of six break points and won three out of four break points. Sharan and Zelenay won 58 points.
Demoliner and Middelkoop saved one break point and won two out of six break points. They won 48 points.
