Kolkata, Jun 26 (UNI) In a country where after every 30 kilometers, language, culture, practices change, it has always been a tough obstacle to overcome financial challenges of rural community bringing about a decent livelihood for them.
It is here that Calcutta Society for Professional Action in Development, popularly known as SPADE ( www.spadeglobal.org), has extended their helping hand to the needy and marginalised strata of the society.
Formed in 1994, this organisation has tried to reach those pockets of Bengal where every dawn calls for a new struggle. For instance, more than 300 kilometers from Kolkata, is a small village called Burrabazar in Purulia where inmates of 50 huts can not afford to pay for electricity charges resulting into ‘NO Electricity” in their houses. Candles and lanterns are their precious assets and sole means for children to study after dark.
