The GHMC has 150 wards and with the ex-officio votes of 52, the total electoral college strength is 202. While the TRS-AIMIM combine needs to win just 54 wards to claim the mayor’s post, the BJP with three ex-officio votes needs to win 99 wards.
This year, the Mayor’s post is reserved for a woman.
As the results of the bitterly contested Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections trickle in after a high-decibel campaign, it seems that no party has been able to achieve an absolute majority.
