Shil-Daighar building collapse case: MSEDCL official's deposition nails builder

Thane, Nov 21 (UNI) The deposition by an Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) official as a prosecution witness in the district court here on Thursday nailed accused builder Jamil Shikh in the case of Shil-Daighar building collapse of 2013.
The eight-storey building that was being built illegally in Shil- Daighar area near town of Mumbra crashed on April 4, 2013, killing 74 persons and injured 60 others.
Deposing in the case as the important witness of the prosecution, Abdul Wahid Sarfrazali Khan, who was then working as junior engineer at Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) said that 20 days prior to tragic incident on March 13, 2013, he along with other officials had raided the Lucky Compound area and found that two buildings -- one fully constructed and another under-construction -- had illegal electric connections from a shop of one Choudhari and there was theft of power.
