Shantaram Naik writes to Jaitley to issue Adhar Cards to NRI through embassies & consulates

Panaji, Jan 23 (UNI) Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Shantaram Naik on Tuesday demanded that the Government of India should make arrangements in all embassies, consulates and other designated places to issue Adhar Cards to Indian citizens residing abroad.
In a letter e-mailed to Union Finance Minister Arun Jatley, copies of which were released to media here, he demanded that Indian citizens living abroad be exempted from producing PAN CARDS and, instead, any other ID proofs, including a xerox copy of the passport of the NRI, which the family members of NRIs staying in Goa, were in possession of, be accepted.
Mr Naik wrote the letter to the finance minister in order to express difficulties of Indian citizens residing abroad to obtain Adhar Cards under The Adhar (Targetted Delivery of Financial and other subsidies , Benefits and Services) Act 2016 and said it was not practical to require the presence of Indian citizens to come down to India only for the purposes of obtaining Adhar Cards.
