New Delhi, Jul 21 (UNI) Union Home Minister and BJP president Amit Shah, veteran BJP leader LK Advani, former Madhya Pradeh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday paid floral tributes to former Delhi party chief Mange Ram Garg.
Mortal remains of Mange Ram Garg were kept at Delhi BJP office, where senior BJP leaders and state party leaders paid floral tributes.
After paying his tribute to Garg, Mr Shah said, 'Late Mange Ram Garg was all along his life worked dedicatedly to the service of the people. From the time of Jansangh till date he was serving people of Delhi. His sudden demise is a very big loss which cannot be compensated.'
Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari and many party workers provided solace to Mange Ram Garg's younger brother Mahaveer Prasad Garg, his five sons Shubhash Garg, Satish Garg, Suresh Garg, Ashok Garg, Sanjay Garg and his daughter Bala.
Mr Tiwari said, 'Mange Ram Garg greatly contributed in the expansion of the party and for the raising the problems of the people is unparalleled and this was the reason why BJP has won many elections. Garg made his place in the heart of crore of the people of Delhi. His sudden demise is a great lose to the party. He in his lifetime done many great endeavors for the party and for the welfare of people of Delhi. By donating his body he has set a great precedence. This shows RSS swayam sewak’s commitment towards the nation and its people.'
Garg, 83, who died on Sunday after a prolonged illness, was born on November 23, 1936 in Kurad village of Haryana's Narwana district.
Garg, who had been keeping unwell since a long time, was admitted to Balaji hospital in Paschim Vihar, four days ago. He died at 0730 hrs.
After hearing the news of Garg's demise, large number of party workers, his colleagues and many other party leaders reached at Delhi BJP office 14 Pt Pant Marg.
His last journey for cremation started from his residence Ashok Vihar Phase-2 at 1130 hrs and reached at BJP Delhi Party office at 12 noon, where a large number of people from across the section of society from Delhi NCR and adjoining states paid their respect to their beloved leader.
Mange Ram Garg had already donated his body to Dhadhichi Dehdaan Samiti and all other belongings what he earned in his life time to social organizations. His wife Angoori Devi expired four years ago.
To pay the tribute to Mange Ram Garg, party's ex National General Secretary Organisation Ramlal, National General Secretary Bhupender Yadav, Dr Anil Jai, Secretary Sardar R P Singh, Office Secretary Mahendra Pandey, Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra along with LOP Vijendra Gupta, Satish Upadhyay, Vijay Goel, Sanjay Joshi, Alok Kumar, Meenakshi Lekhi, Ramesh Bidhuri, Pravesh Sahib Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Pawan Sharma, General Secretary Organisation Sidharthan, General Secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Ravindra Gupta, Rajesh Bhatia, Dr Nand Kishor Garg, Lal Bihari Tiwari, Vijay Sharma from BJP also paid homage.
From VHP Champat Rai, from RSS Dayanand, Bharat, Ajay, and from Dhadhichi Dehdaan Samiti President Harsh Malhotra all other State Office bearers, MLAs, Ex MLAs, Councilors, District Presidents, leaders of Prakoshth, Prakalp Vibhag, Mandal President, Representatives of Social and Religious organization and all senior leaders along with large number of party workers were present in party office to pay their respect and condolences.
A veteran in Delhi politics, Mange Garg, registered his first political win in 2003 when he won from the Wazirpur Assembly constituency.
In 2008 Assembly elections, he lost to Hari Shanker Gupta of Congress but by only about three thousand votes.
With Garg as Delhi BJP chief, party registered a good show in local municipal body elections.
The party gave him a crucial responsibility in 2019 Lok Sabha elections that of strengthening it in Delhi.
