Seventh economic census to begin tomorrow in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 22 (UNI) The Seventh Economic Census will begin tomorrow in the state and the implementing agency is CSC e-Governance Services India Limited.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India has been conducting Economic Census (EC) from time to time. Economic Census is the complete count of all establishments/units located within the geographical boundaries of the country.
The Statistics and Economics official today said the 7th EC will be conducted in two phases in Manipur. The first phase will be launched tomorrow in six districts i.e. Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching and Jiribam and the second phase will be launched on September 9 next in ten districts i.e. Senapati, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong, Noney, Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Chandel, Tengnoupal, Ukhrul and Kamjong. The duration will be three months.
The 7th Economic Census has new features. For the first time Economic Census will be paper less. The enumerators engaged by CSC will do the enumeration of the establishments by using Mobile App and all the establishments will be Geo tagged. The information thus collected through the census will help the Government in planning. It will also immensely benefit researchers, students and academicians in learning about the economic activities in the state.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India, National Statistical Office (FOD), Regional Office, Imphal and Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Manipur will guide and supervise the CSC for the smooth conduct of the 7th EC in the state.
The enumerators will visit door-to-door and collect information of all the establishments. The people of the state were asked to extend their cooperation to the enumerators by providing correct information and participate in planning projects in the state.
