Senior IPS officer absconding after charged with embezzlement in Orissa

Agartala, Jul 9 (UNI) A senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Tripura cadre has been absconding for last two weeks when he was summoned by Odisha government on charges of allegedly misappropriating Rs 88 lakh fund meant for training backward students of Odisha under Skill Development Mission early this year.
Based on the charges framed, Tripura government has suspended the accused officer and incumbent Director General of Fire Service Joydeep Nayak yesterday. But he is reportedly absconding from Safdarjung hospital of Delhi where he had managed to got admitted.
Nayak, a 1991-batch IPS was directed to report to the director (vigilance) of the Odisha government but he went to New Delhi and got himself admitted in the hospital. Mr Nayak on Deputation in Odisha since 2011, has served several positions.
