Senior government officer arrested on graft charge

Gaya, Apr 25 (UNI) Vigilance sleuths caught sub divisional officer of Gaya (Sadar) Suraj Kumar Sinha red handed when he was accepting bribe of Rs 2 lakh here on Wednesday.
DSP (Vigilance) Gopal Paswan said that a trap was laid on the government officer under his leadership when one Sarim Ali, a native of Wazirganj lodged a compaint against him.
Mr Ali said that the government officer was threatening to impose sections 144 and 145 of IPC even when a court verdict in a land dispute had gone in his favour if he did not give bribe of Rs 5 lakh.

Patna, Apr 26 (UNI) Scorching heat appears to have affected polling percentage during the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in five seats in Bihar, as only 58.58 percent electorate exercised their franchise compared to 62.92 percent in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which is 4.34 percent less this year.
