Second Test, Day 3: Windies at 45/2 , India need 8 wickets to make clean sweep

Kingston (Jamaica), Sep 2 (UNI) India needs eight more wickets to win the second test match and clinch series against West Indies as the host were at 45/2 at stumps on Day 3 of the match here at Sabina Park.

At the start of Day 3 on Sunday, West Indies were 87 for 7, needing 130 more runs to avoid the follow-on.
Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each of the three wickets in the morning session to get Windies all out for 117.
Shami dismissed debutant Rahkeem Cornwall for 14 in the fifth over of Day 3 to reach 150 wickets in his 42nd Test match while Ishant sent back Jahmar Hamilton in the 47th over of West Indies' first innings to overtake the legendary Kapil Dev on the list of Indian bowlers with the most wickets outside Asia.
Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with the last wicket of Kemar Roach, who was caught by Mayank Agarwal for 17.
However, India opted to not enforce the follow-on after dismissing West Indies for 117 in the first session. They declared their second innings at 168/4, consolidating their first-innings lead of 299 runs.
Windies bowler Kemar Roach bowled a fiery spell during India's second innings and took the wickets of KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and C Pujara.

However, he narrowly missed out on a hat-trick and later dismissed Pujara too ending with 3-28 off 10 overs in India’s second innings of the final contest.
The in-form Rahane (64 not out) and Vihari (53 not out) got India's second innings back on track after the top-four were dismissed for 57 runs. The fifth-wicket partnership allowed India to declare at 157 for four, giving their bowlers 13 overs to have a crack on the struggling West Indies batsmen.
Shamarh Brooks, 4 off 14 and Darren Bravo 18 off 31 were at the crease as Windies needed 423 runs to overhaul India’s score with eight wickets in hand in their second innings in the 2nd Test.
