SC to hear pleas of Raj, MP on Padmaavat on Tuesday

New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) The Supreme Court said on Monday it will hear the pleas of the Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh state governments on Tuesday seeking modification in it's earlier order in connection with the controversial Hindi Film, Padmaavat.
Both the state governments -- Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh -- on Monday knocked the doors of the apex court pleading for a modification of the apex court's earlier order.
A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, said, "we would hear both the state government's pleas tomorrow".
The top court had in its earlier interim order given a go ahead to the Hindi Film Padmaavat, and directed to release it in all the states, including those four states where it was banned.
The apex court also had, in its earlier order, stayed the notification issued by the four states -- Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. The film was banned in these four states keeping in view the "fact that the film if released might lead to a law and order problem".
The top court, had while passing the interim order, said, all states are constitutionally obliged to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident during the screening of the film across India, a permission granted by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
