Pune, Sep 24 (UNI) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman here on Saturday said the rupee has stood much stronger against the US dollar in comparison to other currencies.
Amid concerns about the position of the Indian currency after the rupee fell to a record low against the dollar, Sitharaman said that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Ministry of Finance are constantly monitoring the position of the rupee.
Speaking to reporters in Pune this evening, Sitharaman said, "If any currency has maintained its position to a large extent in the current situation of fluctuating currencies, it is the Indian rupee."
Finance Minister said the rupee has "come back very well" against the US dollar against other currencies. The Reserve Bank and the Finance Ministry are monitoring developments very closely, the finance minister told reporters after the domestic currency hit a lifetime low.
She was speaking to reporter on the last day of her three-day visit to Baramati Lok Sabha constituency in Pune. She said: "If there is one currency that has built itself and has not been subject to fluctuations like other currencies, it is the Indian rupee. We have done very well."
