Mumbai, Jul 8 (UNI) The Rupee on Monday tumbled down by 23 paise to 68.65 against the US Dollar, on brisk demand for US Dollars by bankers and importers, dealers at the Forex Market informed.

In opening session, the local unit slipped by 16 paise to 68.58.

Till the end of the session it further went down by 23 paise to close negative at 68.65 as compared to its last close.



High fluctuation was seen during intra day session as it registered day high and low at 68.76 and 68.53 respectively.

Strong dollar against other world currencies and sliding equity market kept the indian currency under pressure, they added.
