New Delhi,Sep 23(UNI) The Supreme Court today upheld the conviction of former IPS officer, SPS Rathore for molesting Ruchika Girhotra, a minor budding tennis player way back in 1990 but reduced the term of his imprisonment. "We are upholding the jail sentence of SPS Rathore..,..However, we reduced his sentence from one and half years to the sentence already undergone," a division bench of the apex court, comprising Justices Mr Madan B Lokur and Mr R K Aggarwal said in their order. Rathore had spent six months in Jail after being convicted by the court in 2010. On August 20, 1990, Rathore, the then IGP of the Haryana Police and President of the Haryana Lawn Tennis Association(HLTA), had allegedly molested Ruchika Girhotra, a budding tennis player, in the HLTA office in Panchkula. The Sessions court of Haryana had sentenced Rathore to one and half years and later on it was also upheld by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
