Rubber farmers accuse tyre manufacturers of issuing Electoral Bonds to shield cartelisation

New Delhi, April 24 (UNI) The All India Kisan Sabha and Kerala Karshaka Sangham have joined the rubber farmers and filed an intervention petition in the Supreme Court against the monopoly and Cartelisation of the tyre companies disregarding the interests of consumers and farmers.
The Intervention petition was filed by the Kerala Karshaka Sangham President Ashok Dhawale, General Secretary Vijoo Krishnan along with AIKS General Secretary, Valsan Panoli, and four farmers representing different rubber growing regions of Kerala against the price fixation of tyres even when the price of the raw material, the natural rubber, was falling.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) had fined the major tyre companies including MRF, Appollo, CEAT, JK Tyres etc a sum of Rs.1788 crores for having formed a cartel in the price fixation by the industry.
