New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha today paid tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on the completion of 100 years of the Champaran Satyagraha. As soon as the House met for the day, Chairman M Hamid Ansari read out a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the completion of 100 years of the Champaran movement. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar yesterday launched the year-long celebrations to mark the 100th year of Champaran Movement, Mahatma Gandhi's first major resistance against the British Rule. Mahatma Gandhi launched his Satyagraha -- a non-violent agitation -- against the forced cultivation of indigo by the British rulers in Champaran district in Bihar on April 10, 1917. UNI AR RSA/AE 1316
