RS adjourned Sine Die ahead of schedule

New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) The Budget session of the Rajya Sabha was on Monday adjourned Sine Die ahead of its schedule, due to the threat of Novel Coronavirus.

The House was adjourned Sine Die after the Finance Bill and the Appropriation Bills were returned to the Lok Sabha by a voice-vote, without discussion.

In his valedictory address, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said the overall productivity of the session has been 76 per cent.

The productivity of the first part of the session was over 90 per cent, while the productivity of the second part of the budget session was 61 per cent.

The Chairman said that over 38 hours were lost during the session due to disruptions. However, the House stayed late on nine days, to make up for the hours that were lost.

After the valedictory address, the Chairman called for playing the national song Vande Mataram.

Thereafter, he adjourned the House Sine die.

'I adjourn the House Sine Die,' the Chairman said.

The House was adjourned ahead of it's schedule, due to the threat of COVID-19.

A lockdown has been enforced in Delhi from 0600 hrs on March 23 till 0000 hrs on March 31, to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus.
