Rs 100 cr state convergence funds for NREGS works in East Godavari: Collector

Kakinada, Dec 5 (UNI) East Godavari Collector Kartikeya Mishra has said that Rs100 crores of state convergence funds were allotted to the district under material component for undertaking NREGS works.

Reviewing the progress of various works taken up under the NREGS with the engineering department officials here on Wednesday, he has directed them to utilize these funds for taking up Cement concrete roads, BT and WBM roads and underground drainage works in the district.

He also instructed the project officers of ITDAs of Rampachodavaram and Chintoor to coordinate with the NREGS officials in taking up works in the agency areas. He also advised them to take up the works within a month’s time and complete them on schedule. Mr Mishra said that as many as 5,77,465 workers were provided employment under NREGS spending Rs.339.29 crores towards wages during current year till now.

As against the target of laying 564 KMs of cement concrete roads, so far 556 kms roads were completed, he added. Reviewing the progress on construction of Kapu Bhavans and other community halls, he said,42 kapu Bhavans were sanctioned Rs 20.65 crores while for other community halls Rs.13.80 crores were released.
