Road Safety Week to be observed across country from April 23 to 30

Chandigarh, Mar 28 (UNI) Road safety week will be observed across the country from April 23 to 30 and people from all walks of life will be made aware about traffic rules during the week.
Giving this information on Wednesday, Traffic and Highways IGP Sanjay Kumar said there was loss of life of over 1.5 lakh people per year due to road accidents in the country. He said the Transport department in 2017 had constituted Road Safety Clubs in all colleges and activities of these clubs had been satisfactory.
A financial grant of Rs 50,000 was being given by the government to such colleges, which are sending schemes of road safety.

Patna, Apr 26 (UNI) Scorching heat appears to have affected polling percentage during the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in five seats in Bihar, as only 58.58 percent of the electorate exercised their franchise compared to 62.92 percent in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which is 4.34 percent less this year.
