New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that building infrastructure has been given prime importance and as a part of this roads are being built prominently from the hard mountains to the coasts.
The Prime Minister also said that for the security of the country it is imperative to link the borders with roads.
Delivering his Independence speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 74th Independence Day, Mr Modi said, 'Our border and coastal infrastructure also have a big role in the security of the country. '
'Be it the Himalayan peaks or the islands of the Indian Ocean, today there is an unprecedented expansion of road and internet connectivity in the country and it is at fast pace,' he said.
He said to strengthen the road infrastructure in North and Central Andaman, the work at two major bridges and widening of National Highway 4 is going on at fast pace.
The Prime Minister said that Port Blair Airport would be ready in a few months with a capacity to handle 1200 passengers simultaneously.
