Rising Pune set target of 164 to win for Gujarat Lions in IPL tie

Rajkot, Apr 14 (UNI) A half-century by Faf du Plessis (69 off 43 balls) and 50-run partnership with Kevin Pietersen (37) enabled Rising Pune Supergiants to score a moderate 163 for 5 in 20 overs in sixth Vivo Indian Premier League T20 2016 Cricket match being played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, here tonight.
Having won the toss and opted to bat first, Pune's Ajinkya Rahane and Faf du Plessis came on to the crease. The lead pair set the ball rolling with Rahane hitting back-to-back boundaries. The first was a brilliant punch straight down the ground while the second one on a short ball through deep midwicket. They gave the good start to the visitors with the score on board reading 16/0 at the end of two overs.
Du Plessis also hit his first boundary through the covers to Praveen Kumar.
