Rijiju's chopper made emergency landing at Hindon air base in Ghaziabad

New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) A helicopter carrying Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju today made an emergency landing at Hindon air base, 26 km from New Delhi, after a technical snag was discovered this afternoon. All eight passengers on board are reported safe. The aircraft MI 17 V5 made an emergency landing at Hindon air force station in Ghaziabad after being air borne for nearly 20 minutes. Mr Rijju, along with Member of Parliament from Tehri-Garwal Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, officials of Home Ministry and two electronic journalists had taken off to Tehri-Garwal from capital's Safdarjung airstrip. Mr Rijju was travelling Tehri in the hill state of Uttarakhand to review disaster preparedness and to meet paramilitary troops deployed near India-China border. Meanwhile, all the passengers are safe and were provided with another chopper to proceed. In December last year, 10 military personnel were killed when a small plane of the paramilitary force crashed near Delhi airport minutes after the take-off.
