New Delhi, Jul 4 (UNI) Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju on Thursday lauded the Indian cricket team and wished them luck for the coming semi-finals, in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup.
In a letter addressed to head coach Ravi Shastri, captain Virat Kohli and team India, Mr Rijiju said Team India is the nation's pride and everyone across the country is celebrating their success.
Praising the team for its great run in this World Cup so far, the Minister wrote, 'The whole nation is inspired by your team's performance. Your passion, skills, togetherness and sportsmanship have been commendable throughout all the matches".
Earlier, BCCI acting President C K Khanna called on the Sports Minister on Thursday and received the letter on behalf of head coach Ravi Shastri, Captain Virat Kohli and all team members of the Indian side.
Mr Rijiju also wished the Indian team, hoping that it will bring home the World Cup trophy.
'A billion cheers galore as you go to play in the semi-finals, hoping that this success continues through the final, and you bring home the World Cup', Mr Rijiju wrote.
India beat Bangladesh on Tuesday, to seal its place in the semi-finals. The Indian team sits on the second place on the World Cup standings, with 13 points from eight matches.
India will face Sri Lanka in its final league match on July 6 at Leeds.
