Rescheduling Winter Session not unprecedented: Vijay Goel

New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel on Friday said the current Winter Session of Parliament is not the only one which has been shortened or rescheduled.
There have been several occasions in the past when the session has not been held in time and for its usual duration.
He said in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha the 18th session of the 5th Lok Sabha, the duration was of just 12 days, while the 98th session of Rajya Sabha which was of 13 days saw just nine sittings.
Mr Goel said this year’s Winter Session will have 14 sittings spreading over 22 days.
The Minister said, the 6th session of the 9th Lok Sabha had 10 days of sittings while the 12th session of the 10th LS witnessed 13 days sittings and the (Part-I) of the 15th session of the 15th LS had only 10 sittings.
Similarly, giving information about Rajya Sabha, the Minister said, the 156th session saw working days of 10 while there were 13 sittings during the 172nd session and 10 days for the part-I of the 230th session.
