Lucknow, Jan 17(UNI) Uttar Pradesh government, rural development department has roped in Delhi-based Urban Development & Infrastructure Consultancy firm Rudrabhishek Enterprises Limited (REPL) to provide consultancy services for planning, designing and DPR preparation of piped drinking water in Bundelkhand region, a statement issued on Thursday said.
The contract was signed earlier this month in the presence of Dr Harish Sharma (Chief Business Officer & Operations – REPL) and Surendra Ram, Executive Director – State Water & Sanitation Mission, UP government.
The larger scheme of water supply project of state government will focus on addressing the acute problem of drinking water supply in Bundelkhand region and at a later stage Arsenic/ Fluoride and AES/JE affected areas in Uttar Pradesh, including the Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions.
Presently, the rural household needs to travel great distance in fetching the water and still face the challenges in access to pure and hygienic drinking water.
As per Union government strategic plan (2011-2022), 90 per cent of the rural population in the country has to be benefited with the pipe water supply. However as on date approximately only 19 per centrural population of Uttar Pradesh is covered with Pipe Water Supply Schemes. The initiative will greatly help in addressing these issues in the project areas.
REPL will prepare detailed project report (DPR) which includes the overall planning, engineering survey, designing of the supply model of piped drinking water in Banda, Chitrakoot and Hamirpur districts.
Pradeep Misra (CMD- REPL) said in a statement here on Thursday that the project has overwhelming responsibility as it directly impacts health and daily life of people residing in the area.
“We are already working on several consultancy assignments in the state and this gives us further confidence in successfully delivering the expectations from us. We are happy to realise the government has entrusted trust in REPL for carrying out this important project,” he said.
Chief Business Officer & Operations – REPL Dr. Harish Sharma said that the scope of work will broadly include engineering survey, planning, designing and preparation of DPR of clusters, project integration, reviewing and re-verifying integrated modules, carrying out necessary surveys, investigations, situational analysis, preliminary cost estimates and development of area wise spatial mapping on assets.

REPL works across levels (Regional, City & Zonal) with the Central and State Governments.
