Reduce state taxes on fuel, Fadnavis to Maha Govt

Aurangabad / Mumbai, May 21 (UNI) Former chief minister and BJP's Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis has demanded that the Maharashtra government should reduce the state taxes on petrol and diesel after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced reduction in central excise duty on Saturday.
Finance Minister Sitharaman earlier in the day cut excise duty on petrol by a record Rs 9.5 per litre and that on diesel by Rs seven per litre in view of high inflation, he said in a tweet.
While welcoming the central government's decision, Fadnavis further stated that by reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel, the Union government is going to bear revenue implication to the tune of Rs one lakh crore annually and asked the Maharashtra government to follow suit and reduce state excise duty on petrol and diesel further, he added.
