Ranji Trophy Day 1: Hiten Dalal, Dhruv Shorey guide Delhi to 305 runs

New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) Hiten Dalal (79) and Dhruv Shorey (88) powered Delhi to 305 runs on the first day of the Ranji Trophy elite group B encounter against Himachal Pradesh for eight wickets in 89 overs.
Delhi captain Nitish Rana decided to bat first after winning the toss. Former captain Gautam Gambhir (44) and Hiten (79) shared a 96-run partnership for the first wicket in 16.1 overs. After Gambhir's fall, Hiten added 66 runs with Shorey (88) for the second wicket.
Gambhir hit seven boundaries and scored 44 runs off 50 balls while Hiten also played elegantly and scored 79 runs off 89 balls with the help of ten fours and three sixes. Delhi skipper couldn't do well and was sent to pavilion on a score of 6 runs. Himmat Singh dismissed after scoring 10 runs. Both left Delhi on a score of 196 with four wickets down.
