Ramesh demands CBI Inquiry or Judicial proble into CAG findings of corruption in police dept

Kottayam, Feb 18 (UNI) Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has demanded either a CBI inquiry or a Judicial probe into the findings of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India of corruption in the Police department in Kerala.
The CAG report revealed 'a scam of unparalleled magnitude' and accused CPI (M) leadership of covering it up, Mr Chennithala told reporters here on Tuesday.
The purchases made by Kerala Police were done without meeting the Store Purchase Manual and the guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
The CAG report had unearthed a huge fraud in the purchase of security equipment through Keltron, causing the state exchequer a loss of upto Rs 1.5 crore, the senior Congress leader said.
The recent move of CPI (M)-led LDF government to raise the ceiling on the modernisation
expenditure of the State Police Chief from Rs two crore to Rs five crore had raised suspicions, he said.
He also raised question on the purchase of 200 vehicles that belong to the BS4 Emission class by police allegedly in connivance with a private party.
Mr Ramesh also criticised CPI-M State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan for trying to play down missing of ammunition from the police armoury.
