Chennai, Sep 04 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government on Friday informed the Madras High Court that the parole plea of A G Perarivalan, one of the seven life convicts in the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case was rejected in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the plea, seeking to release her son on two month parole (ordinary leave) filed by Ms.P.Arputhammal came up for hearing before a Division Bench comprising Justices N.Kirubhakaran and Velumani, the Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, S K Prabakar submitted that the convict was already granted parole and he was eligible for next parole only from January 12, 2022. Hence, his parole plea was rejected and also due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
