Rains affect life in south Bengal, boat capsizes in Muri Ganga, S 24 Parganas, no casualty

Kolkata, Dec 5 (UNI) Life by and large was affected in most parts of south Bengal including Kolkata on Sunday following rains, and a cargo boat sunk into the Muri Ganga with no casualty reported even as some 18 NDRF teams are ready to face any eventuality in the coastal districts of West Bengal.
At least 18 NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams have been put on alert in the coastal districts including Medinipur as the Bay of Bengal at sea resort Digha has turned rough due to cyclonic circulation though the Cyclone Jawad is likely to weaken further from deep depression into depression by Sunday morning.
People have been asked to remain indoor and police and volunteers have been on vigil to keep the beach totally free of people.
