Bengaluru, Aug 7(UNI) In the wake of southwest monsoon battering Karnataka, the state government has issued a red alert in six districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan.
Relentless downpour accompanied by uncharacteristic high winds over the last three days have caused significant damage in the coastal and Malnad districts, even as Kodagu braced for more rain as a depression brewed in the Bay of Bengal.
According to District officials, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has begun its operation to remove debris in Kodagu district. Along with widespread rains, landslides have also occurred.
