New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday expressed his condolences over the deaths in Mumbai footover bridge collapse.
'Extremely saddened by the news of the Mumbai footover bridge collapse. I express my deep condolences to the kin of these who died in the accident. I pray that the injured are provided relief at the earliest,' Rahul said in a post on Facebook.
While expressing his condolences on the accident, AICC media incharge Randeep Surjewala remanded resignation of Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on inaction by the Central Government, leading to repeated incidents of collapse of such bridges.
In a series of tweets, he said,""Deeply saddened to learn about the #MumbaiBridgCollapse where several people are still reportedly trapped. My deepest condolences to the families of innocent victims of this terrible tragedy. Hope administration takes swift action & provides urgent medical help to injured. '
Attributing repeated incidents of collapse of such bridges to the inaction by the Narendra Modi government and the Maharashtra government, Mr Surjewala said,' Modi Govt & Mah. Govt are criminally culpable for inaction leading to repeat tragedies-:29/9/2017-Elphistone Stampede. 3/7/2018-Andheri Bridge Collapse. Rly Min’s tall claims of Audit have failed time and again. Rly Min, Piyush Goyal must resign or be sacked.'
