Punjab INTUC demands construction of small flats for poor

Jalandhar, Jan 11 (UNI) Punjab unit of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) today demanded construction of small flats measuring 75 yards to felicitate the poor and the labour class, including mid day meal workers, aangnwadi workers, employees of the sanitation department, gardeners and farm labour, who could not afford high rate construction of small houses.
INTUC president Malwinder Singh Lucky, vice-President Ashok Gupta and ex-councillor Balbir Singh said the government had large chunks of unused lands in the state which can be used for the construction of small flats to accommodate poor and the labour class.
The trade union leaders said in Jalandhar, lands of old Central Jail, Gandhi Vanita Ashram and old Deputy Commissioner office are lying idle which can be used for the construction of flats.
