Pujari gang member arrested in extortion, threat case

Thane, Jun 20 (UNI) The Crime Branch of city police have arrested a
member of infamous Pujari gang for alleged extortion bid and threat
to the Thane and Palghar unit chief of MNS, Avinash Jadhav.
On Wednesday, three members of the gang, including gangster Suresh
Pujari, were booked by the police.
An offence under sections 385, 387, 506 read with 34 of Indian Penal
Code was registered in this regard with the Naupada police station,
based on a complaint lodged by Jadhav, who is also a builder, on
Tuesday evening.
Following which, one of the accused, Sandesh Shetty, was arrested
last night in connection of the crime, police said.
Other two accused are gangster Suresh Pujari and Prasad Pujari.
Mr Jadhav had stated in his complaint that Sandesh Shetty, who
resides in Dadar in Mumbai, had on behalf of gangster Pujari had
demanded Rs 24 lakh from a Navi Mumbai-based businessman Kisan
Gujar, who was the friend of the complainant's friend Nilesh
Being a social worker, Mr Jadhav's friend (Bangude) had asked him to
intervene in the matter, accordingly, Mr Jadhav called up Sandesh
Shetty and asked him why he was demanding money from Mr Gujar.
In this regard, Mr Jadhav even met Shetty but the latter would not
budge and informed him that he would receive a call from Prasad

Accordingly, Mr Jadhav received repeated phone calls on June 16 and
18 from Prasad, who warned Mr Jadhav not to interfere in this matter
else he would face dire consequences.
Fearing for his life, Mr Jadhav filed the complaint against the
members of Pujari gang, sources added.
