Public meeting resolves to urge government to expedite actions in fake encounter cases

Imphal, Feb 3 (UNI) A one day public meeting held today to discuss the emerging challenges in the Extrajudicial Execution Victim Families Association, Manipur (EEVFAM)'s journey for justice at Lamyanba Shanglen.
Imphal welcomed the filing of at least nine charge-sheets by Special Investigation Team of Central Bureau of Invesigation (SIT/CBI) and initiation of trial of at least five cases in the Sessions Courts in Manipur of the extrajudicial execution cases following the land-mark judgements of the Supreme Court of India in 2016 and 2017 in the Extrajudicial Execution Victim Families Association, Manipur (EEVFAM) v/s Union of India, Writ Petition (Criminal) 129 of 2012.
The meeting regretting that the trial in the Session Courts in Manipur is hindered due to the stoic silence of the Government of Manipur and SIT/CBI has yet again failed to keep its own words by not submitting the final reports by 31 December 2018 of all the 42 incidents despite assurance given by the Director, CBI to the Supreme Court of India.
