Protests demanding Kerala minister's resignation turn violent

Pathanamthitta, Sept 19 (UNI) The protests organised by Youth Congress activists, demanding resignation of minister K T Jaleel after NIA questioned him in the Kerala gold smuggling case, turned violent in Kozhikode and Pathanamthitta and police had to use water cannons and lathi charge against them.
Hundreds of activists protested in front of the Collectorate here. A large police unit was present as they were informed that more number of protestors would turn up.
Police had to use water cannons against the protestors when they tried to break the barricades. Many of them were injured in police lathi charge.
